With COILMECH being primarily a company structured to offer a competitive advantage based on our complete in-house design, draughting, fabrication, machining, quality assurance, shop assembly, painting, site erection and commissioning of mine winders, we pride ourselves in the following management team:

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Trevor Watson, a Mechanical Engineer, with an MDP (UNISA) in Project Management and MBA (Oxford Brooke, UK), is focussed on the co-ordination of group resources including finances, mechanical manufacturing and human resources.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR           

Roy Harwood, a registered Chartered Engineer, London, is vastly experienced in winder mechanical design, applications and value engineering.

Roy has been involved in designing mine winders for over 36 years, having done this for GEC, Barlows Heavy Engineering, Lebus International, GEC Alsthom and is a highly respected member of the COILMECH team.

Roy Harwood controls all the technical aspects of each contract, from designs to commissioning.                       

INFRASTRUCTURE

Martin van Straten, is the COILMECH director and owner of the group of properties and factories from which COILMECH operates.  These properties provide security for substantial financial facilities available to COILMECH within the group.

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Jeff Mawson, our hydraulics design engineering and commissioning engineer, is responsible for the designing and management of the manufacture of the hydraulic brake and clutch control systems on COILMECH winders.

COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR

Mike Davis, our projects engineer, has extensive experience in mine winder projects, both new manufacture and refurbishment.

Mike is responsible for the physical procurement and management of a team of staff responsible for carrying out the contractual requirements of each project awarded to COILMECH.

SITE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Johan Van Rensburg is a highly experienced hydraulic technician and mechanical fitter.  His experience in the shop erection, site establishment, winder erection and site supervision up to and including the commissioning of winder systems, make him a valuable member of the management team.

DESIGN CONSULTANT

Len Atkinson, a senior design engineering consultant, is utilised by COILMECH when required.

Len is highly experienced in detailed design reviews and F.E.A analysis, and provides a valuable extension to the management team.

DRAWING OFFICE

Trevor Errington, drawing office manager, is responsible for the team of draughtsmen who design and detail the components for manufacturing.

A fully networked system of design computers enables COILMECH to produce designs and drawings to the highest technical standards and within the project parameters for delivery.
